Systems Health® is fundamentally an education technology that embodies what DR.SHIVA Ayyadurai, MIT PhD, the Inventor of Email, polymath, Fulbright Scholar, and world-renowned systems scientist, who holds four degrees from MIT, wanted to achieve as an ambitious child nearly 50 years ago.

 

“It had to do with my grandmother,” he says with a smile. “She was a Siddhar, a practitioner of a 5,000-year-old system of healing. I used to watch her treat and heal people who lined up outside her home in her small village in South India.

I was awestruck how this woman with no degrees was able to observe people’s faces, and deliver a personalized program of herbs, mantra and massage, uniquely suited for the person.

Four degrees and decades later, during my Fulbright research, it struck me that there was profound similarity between the ancient Indian healing methods she practiced and modern engineering controls systems theory. That was the ‘aha’ moment.”

That ‘aha’ led to Dr.SHIVA publishing a seminal research paper in an international systems engineering journal. He had realized that the ancient yogis and sages of India were not just men in saffron robes, but systems scientists, who had created a core science for understanding all systems: our body, the trees, the world, the cosmos and beyond.

The Inventor of Email
Systems Scientist

Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai, the inventor of email and polymath, holds four degrees from MIT, is a
world-renowned systems scientist, inventor and entrepreneur. He is a Fulbright Scholar,
Lemelson-MIT Awards Finalist, India’s First Outstanding Scientist and Technologist of Indian
Origin, Westinghouse Science Talent Honors Award recipient, and a nominee for the U.S. National
Medal of Technology and Innovation. His love of medicine and complex systems began in India when
he became intrigued with medicine at the age of five as he observed his grandmother, a farmer and
healer in the small village of Muhavur in South India, apply Siddha, India’s oldest system of traditional
medicine, to heal and support local villagers. These early experiences inspired him to pursue the
study of modern systems science, information technology and eastern and traditional systems of
medicine to develop an integrative framework linking eastern and western systems of medicine.

THE SCIENCE UNDERLYING THE SYSTEMS HEALTH® WORKSHOP
